Explosion at Iran Cheshmeh Khosh oil pipeline to Ahvaz

The Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC) PR Office announced the explosion of a 20-inch crude oil pipeline from Cheshmeh Khosh to Ahvaz yesterday, 6th July 2021, on which three people were killed and four were injured.

According to ICOFC report, during the start of the overhaul and pigging operation of the 20-inch pipeline the pig launcher exploded.

The fire was contained and secured after the explosion, and rescue teams were sent to the scene to help the injured in the area, and other support groups were sent to the scene.

The Cheshmeh Khosh production unit has a nominal capacity of 181,000 b/d. It processes oil from the Aban, Cheshmeh Khosh, Paydar, West Paydar and Dalpari oilfields. The oil is transferred via two 18- and 20-inch pipelines over a 153-km stretch to reach Ahvaz pump station #3.
