Iran’s Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) has signed contracts with domestic investors and contractors to procure four offshore drilling rigs under a build-own-operate (BOO) model, aiming to strengthen its drilling fleet and support oil and gas production in the Persian Gulf.
According to the PR Office of IOOC, the 400-foot drilling rigs will be introduced to the company’s fleet for the first time. IOOC currently requires at least 13 offshore drilling rigs, and the four new units will partially address its operational needs.
The contracts were signed with Energy Gostar Sina Holding, Petroiran, Oxin Petroleum Middle East, and Sepehr Tejarat Daryanavardan under a public-private partnership framework, supported by guaranteed purchases of drilling services.
According to IOOC officials, the rigs will support field development, production maintenance, and increased output, while helping meet operational requirements, including gas supply to Siri Island’s NGL facilities. The parties are expected to deliver and deploy the rigs according to the agreed schedule.
