Iran’s investment fund assets double in 12 months (Report)

Iran’s investment fund industry recorded a sharp increase in assets under management, surpassing 4,131.9 trillion tomans at the end of September 2026, up 108% from October 2025, according to a monthly report published by the Research and Policy Division of the Iran Investment Institutions Association.

The report, covering the performance and structure of the country’s investment funds, showed that total assets under management reached 4,131.9 trillion tomans, including market-making funds, by the end of Shahrivar 1405 (September 22, 2026). Excluding market-making funds, assets totaled 3,511.9 trillion tomans across 488 investment funds, representing a 105% increase over the period.

Asset management companies accounted for the largest share of the market. Including market-making funds, these companies managed 2,071.8 trillion tomans in assets across 391 funds, representing 50.1% of total assets under management and 64.7% of all funds covered by the report.

Excluding market-making funds, asset management companies managed 1,915.8 trillion tomans across 328 funds, accounting for 54.6% of total assets and 67.2% of the funds surveyed.

Investment banks ranked second among fund managers, managing 1,289.4 trillion tomans across 99 funds, equivalent to 31.2% of total assets when market-making funds were included.

By fund category, fixed-income funds dominated the market, holding 1,933.8 trillion tomans, or 46.8% of total assets including market-making funds. Commodity funds ranked second with 1,009.4 trillion tomans, accounting for 24.4%, while equity funds held 620 trillion tomans, representing 15% of the total.

The report also highlighted differences in growth across financial institutions. Excluding market-making funds, assets managed by investment advisory companies increased 150% over the period to 337.2 trillion tomans. Asset management companies recorded 130% growth to 1,915.8 trillion tomans, while investment banks’ assets rose 73% to 1,142.9 trillion tomans. Brokerage firms recorded more moderate growth of 27%, reaching 111.2 trillion tomans.

The report provides a monthly assessment of the size, composition and management structure of Iran’s investment fund industry, offering an overview of the expanding role of investment funds in the country’s capital market.
