Farrokh Alikhani has been appointed acting head of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) by Oil Ministry caretaker Hamid Bovard.
A veteran oil executive, Alikhani has extensive experience in oil and gas production and field development. He previously served as NIOC’s deputy managing director for production and was CEO of Petropars from November 2022, overseeing major projects including South Pars Phase 11 and West Karun developments. He returned to NIOC in 2024 as director of oil and gas production supervision and was appointed director of corporate planning in November 2025. He will now oversee NIOC’s affairs as acting head.
