The first Iran’s 'Plast Show Exhibition' opened Tuesday, October 6, at the Iran Mall International Exhibition and Convention Center, focusing on finished products, consumer markets, and business development in the polymer and plastics industry.
The four-day exhibition brings together more than 100 domestic and foreign companies. Around 30 foreign guests from Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and Afghanistan are also expected to attend.
The event includes approximately 12 specialized training workshops covering various topics related to the polymer and plastics industry.
Organized in cooperation with industry associations and the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, the exhibition aims to provide a platform for expanding economic and commercial cooperation among industry stakeholders.
Tehran Chamber of Commerce President Mahmoud Najafi-Arab called for the removal of foreign-exchange barriers and easier access to raw materials during a visit to the first ‘Plast Show Exhibition’.
He said trade exhibitions should go beyond the domestic market and become platforms for international marketing and attracting foreign business partners. Najafi-Arab stressed that the government’s main support for the private sector should be removing business obstacles rather than providing direct assistance.
He also urged the government to ease currency allocation and registration procedures, allowing private companies to use their export earnings more easily to purchase raw materials.
Criticizing state-directed economic policies and price controls, Najafi-Arab called for moving toward a single exchange rate, saying currency stability and easier access to foreign exchange are essential for developing the polymer and petrochemical industries, particularly downstream sectors.
He added that the Tehran Chamber is negotiating with the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade to amend cumbersome regulations and remove obstacles facing businesses.
The first Plast Show will run through October 8 at the Iran Mall International Exhibition and Convention Center.
