Iraq’s crude oil exports have averaged 2 million barrels per day since the start of August, the highest level since the Iran-US war began and disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, Oil Minister Bassem Mohammed Khudair said.
He added that the country has exported about 26 million barrels so far this month, compared with pre-war exports of around 105 million barrels per month, most of which were shipped through Hormuz from the Basra terminal.
Iraq has sought alternative export routes during the disruption, including the Ceyhan pipeline to Turkey and tanker trucks through Syria.
ACCORDING TO SOMO data, In July, Iraq exported around 35.5–37 million barrels through Hormuz, plus about 7 million barrels via Ceyhan.
The Hormuz disruption previously forced Iraq to curtail production at most oil fields as storage capacity filled, highlighting the impact of the shipping crisis on one of OPEC’s largest producers.
