A specialized conference titled "Gateway to the Iraqi Market" was held in Tehran on June 22, 2026 to highlight trade and investment opportunities for Iranian companies in Iraq's energy sector and officially launch Iran's pavilion at the upcoming Baghdad International Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Exhibition.
The event brought together senior officials, industry experts, and representatives from the oil, gas, petrochemical, and engineering sectors to discuss Iraq's energy infrastructure needs, particularly opportunities in petrochemical downstream projects, refinery modernization, and the supply of industrial equipment. Discussions also focused on facilitating customs and logistics procedures and organizing B2B meetings between Iranian and Iraqi companies.
Speakers from the exhibition organizers, Iran Trade Promotion Organization, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce, and the Oil Ministry emphasized Iraq's growing demand for energy infrastructure reconstruction and encouraged strong Iranian participation in the exhibition. Iran's commercial attaché in Iraq also presented an update on current market needs via video message.
The conference concluded with plans to provide financial support for participating companies, particularly knowledge-based firms, through innovation and industrial development funds.
The Baghdad International Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Exhibition is scheduled to be held on September 8–11, 2026.
