Iran’s Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad and India’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector during a meeting on the sidelines of the 11th BRICS Energy Ministers’ Meeting on Thursday, according to the Iranian Oil Ministry News Website.
The ministers reviewed opportunities for enhancing cooperation in oil and gas and explored avenues for expanding bilateral engagement in the energy sector.
India has historically been an important buyer of Iranian crude, but suspended imports in 2019 following the re-imposition of US sanctions on the export of Iranian oil.
