Iran significantly increased its natural gas exports to turkey in the first two months of 2026, reaching a total of 930 million cubic meters, according to official data.
Figures released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) show that overall trade between turkey and Iran stood at 918 million dollars during the January–February period of 2026, marking a 3% decline compared to the same period last year.
Turkey’s exports to Iran fell by 13% year-on-year to 453 million dollars, down from 524 million dollars in the same period of 2025. In contrast, imports from Iran rose by 10% to 465 million dollars, compared to 424 million dollars a year earlier.
Separate data reported via Iranian media sources indicated that Iran’s natural gas exports to turkey increased sharply, reaching 930 million cubic meters in the first two months of 2026. This represents a 3.5-fold increase compared to the same period in 2025, when exports stood at 270 million cubic meters.
The same reports noted that Iran’s total gas exports to turkey in 2025 rose by 16% year-on-year, reaching 8.17 billion cubic meters.
The figures highlight the continued energy trade dependency between the two neighboring countries, even as broader trade volumes show mixed performance trends.
