According to a review of the latest statistics from Iran’s SATBA, the country’s renewable power plant capacity has reached 3,165 megawatts.
As reported by Bazaar, this figure has doubled compared to 1403 (2024/2025) and shows nearly a 20-fold increase compared to the 162-megawatt capacity in 1390 (2011/2012).
Currently, 83% of the country’s renewable energy capacity is supplied by solar power.
If the 11,000-megawatt target is achieved by the end of next summer, national gas consumption will decrease by about 2%, and power plant fuel consumption by nearly 7%. This is because every 10 megawatts of renewable electricity is equivalent to saving 56 million cubic meters of natural gas, reducing water consumption, and curbing carbon dioxide emissions.
