Kazem Jalali, Iran’s Ambassador to Russia, stated that according to an agreement between the two countries, Russia is set to invest $8 billion in Iran's gas projects, of which nearly $5 billion has already been finalized, with the remaining contracts also moving toward finalization, reported the IRNA.
He emphasized Russia’s investment in Iran’s energy and oil sectors—particularly in the country's gas fields—and noted that in 2024, Russia was the largest foreign investor in Iran.
He added that the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the Eurasian Economic Union, continued negotiations on the plan to transfer Russian gas through Iran, the purchase of 50,000 hectares of land for the construction of the Rasht-Astara railway as part of completing the North-South Corridor, and the handover of this land to Russia to begin geological studies are among the promising opportunities ahead for both countries.
