Iran, Oman sign 18 cooperation documents

As of May 28, 2025, Iran and Oman have significantly strengthened their bilateral relations through a series of high-level engagements and agreements.

During Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's official two-day visit to Muscat, the two nations signed 18 cooperation documents encompassing various sectors:

  • - Security: Deployment of armed security guards on flights.

  • - Healthcare: Collaboration in the health sector.

  • - Media: Partnership between Oman News Agency (ONA) and the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

  • - Technology: Cooperation in communications and information technology.

  • - Culture: Joint efforts in the museum sector.

  • - Urban Development: Initiatives in housing, urban planning, and construction.

  • - Commerce: Organizing exhibitions, events, and conferences.

  • - Entrepreneurship: Support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurship.

  • - Mining: Collaboration in mining and mineral resources.

  • - Energy: Feasibility study for an electrical interconnection project.

Additionally, three executive programs were signed focusing on cultural cooperation, tourism, and vocational training.

The two countries discussed expanding banking cooperation to facilitate trade and investment. This move aims to enhance financial ties and support the implementation of the newly signed agreements.

Oman continues to play a pivotal role as a mediator in indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the United States. President Pezeshkian acknowledged Oman's "active, constructive" role in facilitating these discussions. Recent talks in Rome, mediated by Oman, concluded without a formal agreement but showed potential for progress.

These developments underscore the deepening ties between Iran and Oman, highlighting their commitment to regional stability and mutual cooperation.
