Mohsen Paknejad has been elected as Iran new Oil Minister for the 14th Government, gaining 222 positive votes of the members of Parliament.
Paknejad has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Tehran University and a master's degree in industrial engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology. He started his career in the Ministry of Energy in about 30 years ago.

- Deputy Oil Minister for Supervision of Hydrocarbon Resources of the Oil Ministry from November 2018 to September 2021.

- A member of supreme board of supervision over Iran’s hydrocarbon reserves in 2018.

- Deputy managing director of NIOC in production affairs from June 2016 to November 2018.

- Chair of the board and managing director of Naftiran Intertrade Co. (NICO), from July 2014 to June 2016.

- Caretaker for the General Office of Supervision over Oil Products Exports and Swaps from August 2013.
