Parliament’s green light to Paknejad as Iran new Oil Minister

Mohsen Paknejad has been elected as Iran new Oil Minister for the 14th Government, gaining 222 positive votes of the members of  Parliament.

Paknejad has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Tehran University and a master's degree in industrial engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology. He started his career in the Ministry of Energy in about 30 years ago.

His career history in the oil industry is as follows:

  • - Deputy Oil Minister for Supervision of Hydrocarbon Resources of the Oil Ministry from November 2018 to September 2021.

  • - A member of supreme board of supervision over Iran’s hydrocarbon reserves in 2018.

  • - Deputy managing director of NIOC in production affairs from June 2016 to November 2018.

  • - Chair of the board and managing director of Naftiran Intertrade Co. (NICO), from July 2014 to June 2016.

  • - Caretaker for the General Office of Supervision over Oil Products Exports and Swaps from August 2013.
