In a press conference, Javad Nowfarasti, an Iranian energy expert said: "Honestly, Iran’s share in global gas trade is below 0.2%, and it is not a matter of pride that the country has largest gas network and all the villages are supplied with gas," reported the ILNA.

Referring to the gas imbalance and the impossibility of exporting gas, he added: “The goal of gas export at the end of the ‘third 5- year plan’ (ended in 2013) was 100 mcm/d, now 10 years have passed since that time, we are still exporting as 10 years ago and we now export about 35 to 40 mcm/d to Turkey and Iraq.”
