Iran is developing Gonbadli Sulfur Park (Sardar Soleimani) in the northeastern city of Sarakhs to convert 4.5 Mln tons of domestic molten sulfur as well as sulfur from Turkmenistan and other CIS countries into bentonite, micronized sulfur, liquid sulfur and other more value-added products by building at least 15 factories, using private sector investments, reported the News Agency of Iran Oil Ministry.
According to Yahya Feizi, the Head of Shahid Hasheminejad Gas Refining Company the molten sulfur produced at this refinery is now being delivered to four private sector factories and is converted to granulated sulfur with a value added of $15.
"With the completion of these factories, Sarakhs will become a sulfur hub in the Middle East," he said.
