Iran, Iraq sign 22 industrial, trade agreements

Following talks between Iran’s minister of industry, mines and trade and his Iraqi counterparts simultaneously with President Rouhani’s visit to Iraq, 22 industrial and trade agreements were signed by the two countries.

Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Reza Rahmani who is accompanying Rouhani in his visit to Baghdad conferred with the Iraqi ministers of trade and industry.

The talks were aimed at promoting cooperation in the industrial, trade and economic fields in Iraq’s Prime Minister Palace.

In addition to further promoting bilateral relations, the 22 agreements will play a major role in increasing interaction and boosting trade between the two countries.

Rahmani also announced the two countries’ plans to step up trade exchange to 20 billion dollars in future.

“Iran is ready for sharing its experience in the fields of reconstruction and renovation of industries,” Rahmani said.

Promoting cooperation among border provinces, preferential tarrifs, equalizing customs tarrifs in Iraq’s different crossings and easing visa procedures for tradesmen are among the pivots of the agreements signed by the two countries.

Iraqi Trade Minister Mohammed Hashim al-Aani also welcomed joint investment and activating joint committees for further boosting relations.
