“The experts are currently examining the potential of Ilam layer of South Yaran oilfield for oil production, which after its verification, the number of the layers in this field that is shared with Iraq, will rise from three to four.”

Stating the above, Homayoun Kazemeini, South Yaran development project manager at Petroleum Engineering and Development Co. (PEDEC) referred to the 39.7% progress the implementation of this project has made till late June ’15, and said: “The sub-surface operations of this project has made 48.12%, due to the delay in drilling,” reported the news agency of Iran oil minister.

According to Kazemeini, this project aims to produce 50,000 bpd of crude oil or even 60,000 bpd if the production capacity is proved to be higher.

Referring to 29 wells drilled for oil production from South Yaran field, he continued: “Four companies, i.e. National Iranian Drilling Co. (NIDC), Khatam HQ, Pouya Energy Kish Co. and Naftkav Co. are in charge of drilling operations of this field.”

Pointing out that NIDC is planned to drill 22 of the wells, Kazemeini added: “Although 11 drilling rigs should have been located in the field for the purpose, this company succeeded to install only four of the rigs by late June this year.”

Referring to the 96% progress the preparation of the master development plan (MDP) of the field has made, Kazemeini explained: “At present, the basic engineering, land preparation, environmental studies and construction of cellars as well as access roads for drilling 22 wells have respectively made 100%, 80%, 70% and 99% progress.”
