Preface:

Once sanctions against Iran oil industry started to ease in January 2016, Iran oil industry, its upstream sector in particular, began to attract the attention of huge international companies, considering its great potentials.

In order to facilitate the presence of international companies in Iran upstream projects and motivate them, Iran oil ministry has developed and approved new contractual framework for the upstream sector of Iran oil and gas industry.

Iran oil ministry’s main stress on the new round of implementing upstream oil projects is to increase the recovery rate of Iran oil reservoirs by employing cutting-edge technologies.

Moreover, the ministry is looking to create local E&P companies to form partnership with international oil companies in the upstream sector to enhance the local capability for implementing oil and gas upstream projects.

In the new era, the ministry tries to pave the ground for local and foreign research institutes to enter into upstream projects and carry out studies over Iran oil and gas reservoirs to boost the recovery rate.

‘Iran Upstream Oil Survey 2016’, attempts to provide comprehensive information on current and past (over a 15-year period) developments in Iran oil reserves, its oil production and exports, upstream oil projects and geophysics projects. The report provides brief information on 100 Iranian hydrocarbon blocks - onshore and offshore.

The survey provides an overview of major local and foreign oil companies involved in Iran oil upstream sector including fields’ development, geophysics projects along with a summary of their projects in the past 15 years.

This survey is a comprehensive guide for those involved in business development, investment strategy, projects, operations, resources and market analysis.
