Preface:

In line with its practice of covering all information, facts, figures and statistics of Iran’s petroleum Industry, IranOilGas Network has embarked on publishing its 4th successive Yearbook arranged in four categories which comprises ‘Iran Upstream Oil & Gas’, ‘Iran Downstream Oil’, ‘Iran Downstream Gas’, and ‘Iran Petrochemicals’, and contains all that took place in Iran’s Petroleum Industry over the past Iranian year - 20th of March 2009 to 20th of March 2010.

Upon the completion of some gas refineries of South Pars, the volume of sweet gas Iran produced last year enjoyed a 10% growth year-on-year. Comparatively, the consumption of sweet gas also raised 10% last year. Iran’s gas imports were down in the same period, while its export climbed up.

Finalization of gas export contract to Pakistan was among major events happening in this sector last year which was eventually inked without the presence of India.  Gas export contract to the Emirates through Crescent Company has been left up in the air.

Development of Iran’s downstream gas sector has not earned the country any dramatic success over last year. Because of the insufficient financial resources or equipment, the projects related to the construction of new gas refineries or developing any existing refineries are either at a halt or being conducted at a very low speed.

In this edition of ‘Iran Downstream Gas Yearbook’ - besides statistics - an overview of all projects ongoing in the downstream gas sector last year has been also provided.
IranOilGas Network is pleased with the administration and the great care taken in ensuring that the statistics and figures provided in its Yearbooks are all authentic, reliable and as per information disclosed by official sources and the database available on the Network.

* Note: Throughout this Yearbook, ‘last year’ means Iranian year started on 20th of March 2009 and ended on 20th of March 2010.
