Turkey Oil Import Target: 300,000 bpd: MNA

Turkish state-owned refinery Tupras renewed its oil purchase contract with the National Iranian Oil Company for a year and serious negotiations are underway to triple Iran's oil export to the Mediterranean country. "The new contract calls for providing Turkey's only refinery with 100,000 barrels of crude per day for a year, and as soon as the new round of talks come to fruition, the export volume will increase by 300,000 barrels per day," Mohsen Qamsari, director of international affairs at the National Iranian Oil Company, told Mehr News Agency.

Indonesian energy minister due in Tehran: MNA

Indonesia’s energy minister Sudirman Said is heading to Iran on Sunday, a ministry spokesman, Sujatmiko, said Friday. Sudirman Said, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia, will depart for Iran on Sunday to discuss ways for boosting bilateral cooperation and sign an initial deal with Tehran for the purchase of crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Even after the lifting of international sanctions against Iran, longstanding US banking limitations are impeding the country’s oil resurgence by forcing energy companies to use small lenders or barter to get their deals done. "France’s Total SA in February had to arrange payments through three smaller European banks to ship the first exports of Iranian crude to Europe in years," said Mohsen Qamsari, the director in charge of marketing oil at the National Iranian Oil Company. The smaller banks that Qamsari said Total used—Germany’s Europaisch-Iranische Handelsbank AG, Switzerland’s Banque de Commerce et de Placements and Turkey’s Halk Bankasi—do not do much business in the US—if any.
