Petra Bohuslav, the Austrian Minister of Economy, who is visiting Tehran, said that two Austrian banks are ready to provide services for the new agreements of bilateral trade between Tehran and Vienna.

“The two Austrian banks of Raiffeisen-Landesbank Tirol A.G. and Oberbank AG have taken the preliminary steps to provide financial, transaction and exchange services in the economic cooperation of Iran and Austria,” said visiting Economy Minister of Austrian Federal Government Petra Bohuslav on the sidelines of the Iran-Austria joint economic commission in the venue of Tehran’s Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday.

Welcoming the decision of the two banks, the Austrian official voiced hope that the move encourages other financial institutes and banks of Austria to serve the thawing economic relations of Tehran and Vienna.

“We are concertedly focusing on easing the issuance of export permissions, which currently take 6 weeks, and we ask for the patience of the merchants and traders as there are many bureaucratic obstacles which have to be worked out,” said Petra Bohuslav.

Saying that ‘the first step to improve relations is to increase the volume of trade,’ the Austrian minister stressed that ‘this is the commencing of the way, and the important thing is that Austria is determined to develop bilateral ties with Iran and any measure needed for this cause will be undertaken’.
