Preface:
In line with its practice of covering all information, facts, figures and statistics of Iran’s Petroleum Industry, IranOilGas Network has embarked on publishing its 6th successive Yearbook arranged in four categories which includes ‘Iran Upstream Oil & Gas’, ‘Iran Downstream Oil’, ‘Iran Downstream Gas’, and ‘Iran Petrochemicals’, and contains all that took place in Iran’s Petroleum Industry over the past Iranian year – 21st of March 2011 to 19th of March 2012.
Over the past year, the growth rate of Iran petrochemical products was about 6.2% compared to its previous year.
The export rate of petrochemical products - in terms of volume and value - rose about 1.7% and 26.7% respectively, compared to its previous year. Also local sales of petrochemical products - in terms of volume - rose about 12.4% year on year.
Over the past couple of years, considering the suitable local price of the gas feed, Iran’s private sector decided to define several methanol projects, which was followed by signing a number of relevant contracts. However, due to the financial problems, these projects - with a total production capacity of about 14 Mln tons of methanol per annum - have either made no considerable progress, or practically came to a halt.
In this edition of ‘Iran Petrochemical Yearbook’ - besides statistics - an overview of all ongoing projects in the petrochemical sector administered during last year has been also provided.
IranOilGas Network is pleased with the administration and the great care taken to ensure that the statistics and figures presented in its yearbooks are all authentic, reliable and as per information disclosed by official sources and the database available on the Network.
